Should I send USDT on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20)?

Pick the chain that already holds your USDT; either one tops up the same Ironatoll balance. Tron carries TRC-20 tokens and Ethereum carries ERC-20 tokens, and each chain charges fees its own way.

TRC-20 and ERC-20 USDT are worth the same dollar, but they live on separate ledgers, and a transfer cannot jump between them.

  • Ethereum (ERC-20): fees are paid in ETH. Ethereum's documentation prices each transaction as the gas it uses times a base fee plus a priority tip. Tips rise when demand is high.
  • Tron (TRC-20): fees are paid in Bandwidth and Energy. The java-tron documentation says triggering a smart contract, as a USDT transfer does, uses Energy. Without staked or delegated resources, TRX is burned to cover them.
  • Confirmations: Ironatoll credits a Tron top-up after 20 confirmations and an Ethereum top-up after 12, once the transaction is checked.

So keep a little TRX or ETH in the same wallet as your USDT. Exchanges handle that part themselves and charge a withdrawal fee.

How do I pay for a dedicated server with USDT?

Six steps, from the account to the first SSH login.

  1. Open an account

Sign up in the Ironatoll dashboard and write down the account number it returns: it is your only login. Keep your account number safe, because signing in depends on it. An email on the account makes it recoverable; without one, nobody can retrieve a lost number.

  2. Choose the server

Pick a plan on how much an Ironatoll dedicated server costs, a term, a location, a Linux system, and paste your SSH public key, or leave it empty to get a temporary root password.

  3. Pick USDT and one network

On the payment page, select USDT and then one chain: Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20). The page shows our address for that network and the exact USDT amount.

  4. Send on the same network

In your wallet or exchange, choose the same network by name and send the exact figure, then confirm with the "I've sent the payment" button. The network fee comes on top.

  5. Wait for the confirmations

Tron needs 20 confirmations and Ethereum 12. Your balance is credited once we have checked the transaction on the blockchain.

  6. Get your server

A person prepares your server after your payment is confirmed, within 72 hours, so it is not instant; your dashboard shows the status, then the IP address once the server is ready. Once the dashboard shows the IP address, open a shell with ssh root@YOUR_IP from the machine holding your private key.

How do I avoid sending USDT on the wrong network?

Three checks prevent almost every loss: the coin, the name of the chain and the address format.

A USDT payment on a network our page did not offer is lost for good, so check the network name last, just before you send.

  • Choose the network by name. An exchange withdrawal screen lists USDT on many chains. For our Tron address select TRC-20, sometimes shown as Tron; for our Ethereum address select ERC-20.
  • Read the address. Our Tron address starts with T and our Ethereum address with 0x. BNB Chain and Polygon addresses also start with 0x, so the network name matters as much as the address.
  • Send only USDT. Another coin sent to a USDT top-up cannot be recovered.
  • Copy, do not type. Paste the address from the payment page and compare its first and last characters.

Other hosts apply the same rule. Shinjiru, for example, writes that USDT on TRC-20 and USDC payments will not be processed or refunded.

Can Tether freeze the USDT I pay with?

Yes. Tether's Token Terms of Sale and Service, last updated 26 February 2026, give it the power to freeze USDT and block addresses.

  • Section 2: Tether may freeze tokens as required by applicable law, or where it judges this prudent.
  • Section 8: if Tether determines or suspects a prohibited use, it may freeze tokens and blacklist an address that holds them.
  • Section 9: Tether may bar transactions with sanctioned persons.

USDT has an issuer with the power to freeze it: Tether's own terms let it freeze tokens and blacklist addresses that hold them.

For a server payment, this means USDT held at a frozen address cannot be sent, so the top-up never arrives. USDC is also issued by a company, so its issuer's terms matter too. As for Ironatoll, its rule is plain: We match every incoming payment against public sanctions lists of blockchain addresses, and a payment sent from a listed address is never added to a balance. Why do some hosts no longer take USDT?

Some EU-based hosts dropped USDT because their payment processor did. Cherry Servers says CoinGate stopped USDT on 23 March 2025 under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets rules (MiCA), and replaced it with USDC. Bacloud's payment guide says the same, while its crypto page still lists USDT.

A host that receives USDT at its own addresses does not depend on a processor's list. Ironatoll takes USDT at its own deposit addresses on Tron and Ethereum.

How much does a dedicated server cost in USDT?

Prices are set in dollars, and the payment page shows the matching USDT amount. Ironatoll charges Atoll 16 $63.68, Atoll 32 $72.15, Atoll 64 $72.62, Atoll 128 $205.27, Atoll 256 $406.37 per 30 days.

Atoll 32 costs $72.15 for AMD Ryzen 5 5600 (6 cores / 12 threads), 32 GB RAM, 2 × 512 GB NVMe in RAID 1, 40 TB a month at 1 Gbit/s, 1 IPv4 and an IPv6 /64. Its named reference, read on 30 October 2026 at a no-KYC crypto host, was MonoVM's “AMD Ryzen 5 5500” at $96.20 a month; Ironatoll charges 25% less. Every tier and host is on how much a dedicated server costs per month.

USDT and dedicated servers: common questions

Can I buy a dedicated server with USDT in Europe?

Yes. Ironatoll's locations are Amsterdam (Netherlands), Reykjavik (Iceland), Zurich (Switzerland) and Bucharest (Romania); each plan is sold in each city at one price. Every location takes the same USDT top-up on TRC-20 or ERC-20.

Does Ironatoll accept USDT on BEP-20, Polygon or Solana?

No. Only two USDT chains are open, Tron (TRC-20) and Ethereum (ERC-20), plus USDC on Ethereum. A transfer on any other chain cannot be recovered.

Does sending USDT on TRC-20 require TRX?

From your own wallet, yes, unless you hold staked or delegated Energy: Tron burns TRX to pay for the transfer. If you withdraw from an exchange instead, it covers the network cost and bills you its withdrawal fee.

Which no-KYC hosts take USDT on TRC-20?

AliasVPS and CryptoVPS.host name TRC-20 and ask for no ID at signup; AlexHost names it but can ask for a passport for refunds. Ironatoll takes TRC-20 with no KYC. Every ID rule is on can I rent a dedicated server without KYC.

How long does a USDT payment take?

Tron needs 20 confirmations and Ethereum 12 before we check and credit the top-up. The usual times are on where can I buy a dedicated server with crypto. Then setup takes 72 hours or less from the moment your payment is confirmed.

Can I get a refund in USDT?

Yes, in one case. Days a server could not run, because it was never set up or because it failed and support could not repair it, are credited back to your balance. Balance never expires. Top-ups are not paid out unless the law requires it, with one exception: the amount added only to reach the minimum top-up is returned on request in USDT or USDC within 30 days of payment, provided it is unspent.
