Quick answer

How do I buy a dedicated server with Bitcoin?

To buy a dedicated server with Bitcoin at Ironatoll, open an account and top up your balance in on-chain BTC. Then order a plan, with your SSH public key or without one for a temporary root password. The top-up is credited after 2 network confirmations, and a person prepares the server. Plans start at $63.68 per 30 days. No KYC: no ID, no selfie, no card. Bitcoin Lightning is not accepted; other crypto is.

How do I buy a dedicated server with Bitcoin, step by step?

Eight steps, from a new account to a root shell on your own machine.

  1. Open an account and keep its number

Sign up in the Ironatoll dashboard. Instead of a username, you get an account number. Keep your account number safe, because signing in depends on it. An email on the account makes it recoverable; without one, nobody can retrieve a lost number. Nobody from our team will ever ask for your account number, your root password or your private SSH key, by email or in a chat.

  2. Create an SSH key on your computer

Type ssh-keygen -t ed25519 in a terminal. It writes a private key that never leaves your machine, and ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub, the public half you paste at checkout. The key is optional but safer: without one, the team sets a temporary root password for you to change.

  3. Choose plan, location and operating system

Compare the five plans on how much an Ironatoll dedicated server costs. Locations: Amsterdam (Netherlands), Reykjavik (Iceland), Zurich (Switzerland) and Bucharest (Romania); each plan is sold in each city at one price. Systems: Debian 13, Debian 12, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, AlmaLinux 10, Rocky Linux 10 and Proxmox VE 9.

  4. Choose BTC on the payment page

Every plan costs more than the $25 minimum, so the top-up equals the plan price. The page shows our Bitcoin address and the exact BTC amount, with the rate locked for a short time.

  5. Send the exact amount on-chain

From your wallet, pay the precise BTC figure, every decimal included, and press "I've sent the payment". Your wallet adds the network fee; the transaction ID field is optional.

  6. Wait for 2 confirmations

Your balance is credited once we have checked the transaction on the blockchain, after 2 confirmations. Blocks come about every 10 minutes on average, and a low fee can delay the first one.

  7. Let the team prepare the server

A person prepares your server after your payment is confirmed, within 72 hours, so it is not instant; your dashboard shows the status, then the IP address once the server is ready. No setup fee: you pay only the price of the term you choose, at your order as at every renewal.

  8. Log in as root

When the IP address appears in the dashboard, run ssh root@YOUR_IP on the machine where your private key lives. Root access over SSH: add your own public key at checkout and password login stays off, or leave it empty and get a temporary root password with your server, to change at first login.

Which wallet should I send the Bitcoin from?

The best wallet is one that lets you set both the amount and the fee. Any on-chain Bitcoin wallet qualifies, and an exchange works if the full amount leaves it.

  • Self-custody wallet: you control the figure and the fee rate, so the payment lands exactly as quoted.
  • Exchange withdrawal: some platforms deduct their fee from what you type. Gross up the amount by that fee, or move the coins to your own wallet first.
  • Lightning-only app: it has no on-chain send, so it cannot pay Ironatoll.

Ironatoll finds each Bitcoin top-up by its exact amount, so a payment that loses even a fraction to a withdrawal fee no longer matches.

What does it cost to pay for a dedicated server in Bitcoin?

You pay the plan price plus the Bitcoin network fee. The price is set in US dollars; at checkout the payment page works out the BTC amount.

The network fee goes to Bitcoin miners, not to Ironatoll. Your wallet sets it. The bitcoin.org guide warns that a fee below what the network currently favours can delay the first confirmation considerably.

No setup fee: you pay only the price of the term you choose, at your order as at every renewal. Atoll 16 costs $63.68. That is 25% under its named reference of 30 October 2026, a no-KYC crypto offer: Bacloud's “Xeon E2xG” at $84.91 a month. Bacloud takes crypto through CoinGate or Cryptomus/Heleket.

Can I pay for a dedicated server with Bitcoin Lightning?

No. Ironatoll receives Bitcoin only as ordinary on-chain transactions. Lightning is rare among dedicated-server hosts, and each host that takes it has a catch.

According to Ironatoll's check of 30 October 2026, only 3 of 28 crypto-accepting dedicated-server hosts take Bitcoin over Lightning: Cherry Servers, HostSailor and Zergrush.

How long does it take to get a dedicated server after paying in Bitcoin?

Count the confirmations first, then the setup. Bitcoin adds a block about every 10 minutes on average, so 2 confirmations take about 20 minutes on average; a low fee stretches that.

Then the server is built by hand: 72 hours or less from the moment your payment is confirmed. Hosts in our check state a median of 24 hours, with a range of 30 minutes to 10 business days. Ironatoll is slower than most, and the dashboard shows the status until the IP address appears.

Is paying for a dedicated server with Bitcoin private?

Only up to a point. Ironatoll never learns your name and logs no connections, yet the payment itself sits on a public ledger. The bitcoin.org guide states that all Bitcoin transactions are stored publicly and permanently on the network.

No KYC keeps your name out of Ironatoll's records; it does not take your Bitcoin payment off the public ledger.

  • The address trail: anyone who links an address to you can follow its payments, including the one to us.
  • The exchange: a platform that sold you the coins after an ID check knows the withdrawal address.
  • Our records: for billing we store the amount, coin, network, date and transaction ID of every top-up. We match every incoming payment against public sanctions lists of blockchain addresses, and a payment sent from a listed address is never added to a balance.

What a server paid in crypto still reveals is covered on is a no-KYC server paid in crypto truly private.

What happens after the first 30 days?

The server renews from your balance. A server is paid from your prepaid crypto balance for 30 days, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months at a time, the term you choose at checkout. With auto-renew on, it renews from the balance for the same term at the price of your order, unless you pick another term for the next renewal in your dashboard; if the balance does not cover the next term, the server is suspended at the end of the period, its disks are kept for 7 days, then wiped.

Top up again in BTC, or in any accepted coin, before the end date. Reboot, reinstall and cancel are requested from your dashboard and carried out by the team; a reinstall erases the disks. There are no automatic backups, so every file you need to keep should also live somewhere you control. A common next step is can I run a Bitcoin or Monero node on a dedicated server.

Bitcoin and dedicated servers: common questions

Can I pay for a dedicated server with BTC without KYC?

Yes. Ironatoll takes on-chain BTC with no ID, no selfie and no documents. You log in with an account number, and an email address is an option, not a requirement.

How many confirmations does a Bitcoin payment need?

2 network confirmations, then we check the transaction on the blockchain and credit your balance. A higher fee usually gets the first confirmation sooner.

Can I buy a dedicated server in the USA with Bitcoin?

Not at Ironatoll. Its locations are Amsterdam (Netherlands), Reykjavik (Iceland), Zurich (Switzerland) and Bucharest (Romania); each plan is sold in each city at one price. Several hosts in the comparison on where can I buy a dedicated server with crypto sell US servers for BTC.

I closed the payment tab before my BTC confirmed. Is the top-up lost?

Nothing is lost: the unpaid top-up waits under Billing in your account, with its address and exact amount.

Are refunds paid back in BTC?

No. When money goes back to you rather than to your balance, it is sent in USDT or USDC: Days a server could not run, because it was never set up or because it failed and support could not repair it, are credited back to your balance. Balance never expires. Top-ups are not paid out unless the law requires it, with one exception: the amount added only to reach the minimum top-up is returned on request in USDT or USDC within 30 days of payment, provided it is unspent.

Can I pay part in Bitcoin and part in USDT?

Yes. Each top-up lands in the same US-dollar balance, whatever the coin. The balance then pays for the server and its renewals.
