What Hetzner and OVHcloud ask for, in their own words, and which bare-metal hosts set no ID step at signup. Policies and prices read on 30 October 2026.

**Quick answer — Which Hetzner alternatives don't require ID verification?**

The **Hetzner alternatives that don't require ID verification** at signup are crypto-paid bare-metal hosts such as **Ironatoll**, FlokiNET, Privex, Servers.Guru, SwissLayer, PrivateAlps and Anubiz Host. Hetzner may ask for a government ID or a card prepayment before it processes an order. Ironatoll never asks: no KYC, payment in crypto only, dedicated servers from $63.68 per 30 days.

## What do Hetzner, OVHcloud and Ironatoll ask before an order?

| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Hetzner: when | Before it processes an order, as a fraud-prevention check (fraud prevention FAQ, last changed 6 August 2026) |
| Hetzner: how | A copy of a government ID (ID card or passport), or an advance payment with your own credit card |
| Hetzner: payment | Card, SEPA direct debit, bank transfer or PayPal; no cryptocurrencies |
| OVHcloud | Orders checked by hand on working days; documents requested by email if the check cannot be completed |
| Ironatoll: identity | No KYC: no ID, selfie, documents, card or phone number are ever collected |
| Ironatoll: payment | Crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, XMR |
| Ironatoll: price | Atoll 16 $63.68, Atoll 32 $72.15, Atoll 64 $72.62, Atoll 128 $205.27, Atoll 256 $406.37 per 30 days |

## What does Hetzner ask for, and when?

**Hetzner can ask any customer to verify the account before it processes an order, either with an ID document or with a prepayment from their own credit card.** Its fraud prevention FAQ, last changed on 6 August 2026, names only these two routes:

- **ID document:** a copy of a valid government-issued ID, such as an ID card or a passport. Hetzner uses it to check that your registration details match your identity.
- **Card prepayment:** an advance payment with a credit card in your own name. Unused credit from this step is refunded only when you close the account.

The same FAQ explains which orders draw extra checks. For a first order, Hetzner checks whether the number and value of the products look plausible. It pays particular attention to high-priced products, and may hold such orders for a manual review or reject them. It suggests that new customers start with a cheaper Server Auction machine or a small cloud server.

Signup asks for an email, contact details and a billing address. Hetzner's getting-started page asks you to avoid VPNs and, if possible, free email addresses while you register.

## Why do so many people get stuck in Hetzner's verification?

Hetzner publishes no processing time and no full list of refusal reasons, so buyers ask each other. On 30 October 2026, Google completed "hetzner verification" with *failed*, *pending*, *id*, *time* and *reddit*, and "hetzner kyc" with *verification* and *reddit*.

All ten of Bing's top results for "hetzner verification reddit" were r/hetzner threads that day. Their titles tell the story: "Verification denied on multiple occasions?", "How long does ID verification take?" and "Hetzner Verification for Indians is not fair". On r/selfhosted, one thread asks for a "Hetzner-like VPS without national ID verification".

**A first order for a dedicated server is the kind Hetzner says it watches: a high-priced product from a new customer.** The threads show demand, not policy; Hetzner's policy is the one quoted above.

## Does OVHcloud ask for ID as well?

Yes, OVHcloud can. Its order guide, updated on 8 October 2026, says orders are verified manually, on working days only. If the check cannot be completed, OVHcloud emails a request for supporting documents. Google completes "ovh verification" with *ovh id verification*.

Neither Hetzner nor OVHcloud accepts crypto, so a buyer who wants to pay in coins needs another host anyway. See [can I pay Hetzner with crypto](https://ironatoll.com/can-i-pay-hetzner-with-crypto/ "Hetzner's payment methods, checked on 30 October 2026").

## Which bare-metal hosts ask for no ID at signup?

**According to Ironatoll's check of 30 October 2026, 13 of 34 dedicated-server hosts ask for no ID at signup, 16 ask only on set triggers, and 3 require it before delivery.** The table lists the no-ID hosts that take crypto and sold a current plan with at least 4 cores, 16 GB of RAM and 480 GB of SSD.

"No ID at signup" means the host's own pages set no identity step. Several still ask for a name and a postal address on the form.

## Which hosts ask for ID only in some cases?

Most crypto hosts sit in between: no ID at signup, but a written trigger that can bring one later. The trigger matters most if you want a refund or pay by card. These were the cheapest of them for the same size of server.

### Hosts with an ID trigger (30 October 2026)

| Host | When the host can ask for ID | Crypto processor | Cheapest plan with 4+ cores, 16 GB, 480 GB SSD (monthly) |

*Prices checked on October 30, 2026.*

On 8 October 2026 the United Kingdom designated Cryptomus and Heleket under its Russia sanctions regime; Bacloud, MonoVM and Zomro use it. HOSTKEY, HostZealot and Leaseweb require ID before delivery.

## How does Ironatoll compare with Hetzner on price?

**For similar hardware, Ironatoll costs more than Hetzner's AX41 and less than its 8-core and 16-core AX servers.** Hetzner's prices below exclude VAT and were read on 30 October 2026. Its AX41 was shown as not available in the configurator that day.

1 EUR = 1.1172 USD (ECB, 30 October 2026). Hetzner bills card, SEPA, bank transfer or PayPal; Ironatoll bills crypto only. No setup fee: you pay only the price of the term you choose, at your order as at every renewal.

## What does Ironatoll ask when you sign up?

Nothing that identifies you. No KYC: no ID, selfie, documents, card or phone number are ever collected. You log in with an account number, and an email address is an option, not a requirement. Keep your account number safe, because signing in depends on it. An email on the account makes it recoverable; without one, nobody can retrieve a lost number.

Two checks remain, and neither involves a document. Wherever the blockchain shows the sending address, which it does for every coin we take except Monero, we match the payment against public sanctions lists of blockchain addresses, and a payment sent from a listed address is never added to a balance. We turn away people and companies located in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, China, Yemen or Western Sahara, or in the occupied regions of Ukraine.

No KYC is a rule about paperwork, not a promise that a payment or a server can never be linked to you. [What still links a no-KYC server to its owner](https://ironatoll.com/is-an-anonymous-dedicated-server-really-anonymous/ "Payments, IP addresses and logins: what a no-KYC host still sees") is covered on its own page. The full rules are on [can I rent a dedicated server without KYC](https://ironatoll.com/dedicated-server-without-kyc/ "Renting bare metal with no ID, step by step").

## When is Hetzner still the better choice?

Hetzner suits you if you can pay by card, SEPA or PayPal and pass its check. Its dedicated servers sit in Falkenstein, Nuremberg and Helsinki. The AX41 has no minimum contract term, and the Server Auction sells used machines with no setup fee.

Ironatoll suits you if the ID check or the card is the problem. Its limits are plain: No remote console (IPMI or KVM over IP) is included: reboots and reinstalls are requested from your dashboard and done by the team, and Lightning is not taken. Monero is, as at 15 hosts in the check, and the wait is short: A person on our team gets your server ready once your payment is confirmed, usually a few minutes later and never more than one hour after the confirmation; your dashboard shows the status, then the IP address once the server is ready.

- Minimum top-up $1. Top up once in crypto, then buy any plan from your balance.
- Credit on your balance does not expire and renews any of your servers. When a top-up is only made to reach the minimum, the unspent part comes back on request within 30 days of payment, in USDT or USDC. The rest of a balance is not paid out unless the law requires it.
- Credited once your payment is checked on the blockchain. Typical network confirmation time: BTC ≈ 20 min · USDT TRC-20 ≈ 1 min · USDT ERC-20 ≈ 5 min · USDC ERC-20 ≈ 5 min · ETH ≈ 5 min · SOL ≈ 1 min · LTC ≈ 15 min · XMR ≈ 20 min

## Hetzner verification and alternatives: FAQ

### Does Hetzner require ID verification?

Not always, but it can. Hetzner's fraud prevention FAQ says it may ask you to verify your account before it processes an order. You then send a copy of a government ID or make an advance payment with your own credit card.

### How long does Hetzner ID verification take?

Hetzner does not publish a time. Its FAQ sends questions about verification to its review team by email. The question is common: r/hetzner has a thread titled "How long does ID verification take?".

### Why was my Hetzner verification denied?

Hetzner's FAQ names open invoices, a large or high-value first order, and incomplete or false registration details. It also says a VPN makes the check harder.

### Is there a Hetzner-like host without national ID verification?

Yes. Privex and Servers.Guru rent dedicated servers in Germany and Finland with no ID step, and both take Monero. Ironatoll rents them with no KYC in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Reykjavik (Iceland), Zurich (Switzerland) and Bucharest (Romania); each plan is sold in each city at one price.

### Can I skip Hetzner's verification by paying in crypto?

No. Hetzner's payment overview says it does not accept cryptocurrencies, and its only alternative to an ID is a prepayment from your own credit card. To pay in coins, you need a host that takes crypto directly.

**Rent a dedicated server with no ID check** Pick a plan, a location, a Linux system and your SSH key (or none, for a temporary root password), then top up in crypto. A person on our team gets your server ready once your payment is confirmed, usually a few minutes later and never more than one hour after the confirmation; your dashboard shows the status, then the IP address once the server is ready. Ironatoll: Ironatoll rents offshore dedicated servers (bare metal) in Amsterdam, Reykjavik, Zurich and Bucharest, paid in crypto with no KYC: no ID, no selfie, no documents. Each server is a whole physical machine for one customer, with root access over SSH. It is run by DomaineGoat LLC, a company registered in Panama that ignores DMCA notices, answers only to Panamanian law, allows Tor exit relays and keeps no logs. On the 30-day term, each plan is priced at least 25% under a named comparable dedicated server from 17 no-KYC crypto hosts, read on 30 October 2026.
